The shoulder story

The Dr. said that my MRI was less then favorable. OK, so what does that mean? I have injured my glenoid labrum. I could do surgery, but it could take 6 weeks to a year to heal. Part of the operation would include disconnecting my bicep and reconnecting it lower in the shoulder as this entry point is where the damage is. The Dr. said that there is no guarantee that the pain would subside or that I would get the full motion of my arm back. Dr. C. said I should only consider the operation if I had to alter my lifestyle or I can't stand the pain. No shit, I was thinking.

The Yoga helps with the pain along with Ibuprofen. Seems that swimming is off the agenda for athletic activities.

I have altered the way that I put on my jacket. I use to start with my right arm in the sleave and then slip in my left. I now start with my left and slip in my right. I guess I can't really say this is a big change to lifestyle, although it is a change to the way I dress myself. I do have strength in my arm as long as I keep the activity below shoulder height. This means that I have to limit what I do above the shoulder. Hey TRW, can you change that light bulb? You know I would do it, if it wasn't for this darn shoulder.

So, I live with it.

You know my right hip has been sore off and on for the past 10 years. I suppose I can get an MRI done and get the same story from the Doc. I think I will save the money. I just alter the way I get into a car. I use to put my right leg in and then sit down and twist and slide into position. Now, I sit my butt down and rotate my legs around to get my feet in and into position. Only a minor alteration in my lifestyle. Bicycling and walking are still options for exercise and It doesn't hurt to swing it over a motorcycle.

Where is that bottle of Ibuprofen????
